Kill The Shadow on Steam Deck

Official status as of launch.

• The Steam store page lists Windows only — no official macOS or Linux build

• Steam Deck compatibility is not yet verified by Valve at the time of writing

• The demo has been playable since 2024 and some players have run it on Deck, but that is anecdotal, not official

If you want to try it on Deck, these are reasonable steps — not guarantees.

• Try the free demo first on Deck before buying

• Check ProtonDB for community reports on the demo and full game

• Use the latest Proton GE if the default Proton does not start the game

• Set the game to a comfortable TDP if you play on battery

Kill The Shadow is a dialogue-heavy RPG, which works well with controller-style layouts.

• Dialogue and investigation-driven games map well to gamepad layouts

• Use the Steam Input community layouts once the game is running

• Remap in-game controls to suit the Deck's buttons
